Item is a photograph of a British Columbia Wildlife Federation (BCWF) meeting held at Marco Hall. Photograph is an interior snapshot of people seated in rows of chairs. A man in the front row, right side of the room, is standing and addressing the men at the head table, whose backs are to the camera. He is pointing towards the men with one hand, while the other is folded in front of his body. He is wearing a light coloured winter jacket and light coloured trousers. The wall behind him is a dark coloured paneling, there is an open glass door on the right side and in the centre background is a closed exist door.

Context

The B.C. Wildlife Federation held a meeting on January 19th, 1979 to discuss the depletion of salmon. Hugh Anderson, Parliamentary Secretary to Hugh Faulkner, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, spoke at the event in support of the Aboriginal Right to food fishing. Discussions were held regarding the depletion of salmon stocks through the commercial fishing industry and industrial pollution. UBCIC, the Musqueam Indian Band, the Squamish Nation, and the United Native Nations were in attendance.
